A Place of Yes.

Photobucket

I've made it no secret that I love all things Bethenny Frankel. She's witty and she says exactly what's on her mind at all times, and I adore that. Not long ago I finished reading her book A Place of Yes. I'm not saying this just because I love Bethenny, but I highly recommend this book...

Without giving anything away I will say that this book taught me a lot of things and made me think about the way I do things. It helped me to make some necessary changes. I realized there were a few places in my life that I wasn't coming at them from "a place of yes", which shocked me, but it was something I needed to hear.

...plus, it's a perfect pool-side book because let's face it, Bethenny is hilarious. And the way her books are written it's like she's talking to you. Which is awesome.

Your turn, what books are you reading this summer?  Anything I need to get my hands on right this moment? Besides Shades of Grey, because obviously I've heard of that!

We love Kick Butt Coffee here in Austin! It's a fun little place with great coffee (as you might tell from their name, it really does have a "kick") and a friendly staff. If you're ever in Austin and decide to stop by, I insist that you try the pizza! Dave and I got to try a free pizza last time we were there and it was AMAZING...we highly recommend the Mediterranean.

This past Friday when we were there, Dave recorded a few of his songs...stay tuned for those! Also, see that gorgeous rose ring above? I don't think I've taken it off since the lovely owner of PinPinFinds sent it to me! And people...they're only $8. Too good of a deal to miss out on, so make sure to check out her shop and tell her I sent you!

Velodyne Acoustics vPulse Headphones.

A few weeks ago Dave and I were thrilled to each receive a pair of headphones from Velodyne Acoustics. They are noise reducing in-ear headphones that work with your iPhone...score.

Velodyne Audio vPulse Headphones // Home is with You

As someone who has a degree in Speech-Language-Hearing: Sciences and Disorders, I really appreciate the noise reducing aspect* of these headphones. They make it so much easier to hear your music, which is much better for your ears! And of course when you combine that with the in-ear feature and Velodyne's technology, the sound is amazing.

*The only time I don't recommend noise reducing headphones is when you're out on a run and need to hear your surroundings.

I also love that they have a volume control on the cord (just like the normal iPhone headphones) so it is easy to adjust. And you can take calls with the headphones in, if you feel like interrupting the music...

But enough about how much I'm loving my V-pulse headphones, Velodyne is giving away a pair of electric blue (just like mine) headphones to one of you! So get to work...

Two teachers with a passion for Texas, music, art, design, & fashion decided to combine these to create Tumbleweed TexStyles. Marketing teacher, Brian Wysong and art teacher, Jeb Matulich decided to take their expertise from their high school classrooms out to the real world to have some fun and to make a little extra cash. In less than 9 months, their dream of doing something they love while running a business has come to reality. With very little promotional push and full time teaching careers, they have sold shirts in 27 states, and are growing a loyal following. They also have shirts being sold at stores in Frisco, Grapevine and Gruene, TX.

Tumbleweed TexStyles sells hand drawn, Texas inspired shirts, with style, comfort and quality in mind.

Howdy! My name is Ruthie and I am a child of God, southern wife, mama to a cute chunky French bulldog and love of all things crafty. My blog chronicles my life, everything from my relationship with Jesus, the ridiculous costume parties my husband plans and trying to become Suzie Homemaker while balancing a full time job in software marketing and part time Zumba instructor. In our family, we love, we hug, we live out loud, we make mistakes and make fools of ourselves. Oh, and I blog all about it!

Hi! My name is Whitney. I'm a soon-to-be lawyer but my real passion is cooking. I write a blog called Two Cups of Comfort where I share my favourite comfort food recipes (and some healthier options too!). I like to cook the kind of comfort food that makes you want to take a nap afterwards. Happy cooking!

Literally, one day we said to each other "Let's start a blog... about everything." And that is pretty much how it started. We are two sisters (in law) coming together to share our love for food, fashion, life, design and anything else we feel like rambling about. So whatever it was that brought you to our blog, we hope you stay!

...so make sure to go tell them hi and that I sent you :) Happy Friday!!!

We're *almost* normal adults now...

Sorry if I'm a little MIA today (I'm sure I'll still be on twitter and instagram a bit), but this just happened...

Photobucket

...yep, after being married for 3 years, Dave and I bought our first table! And coffee table, TV stand, and bookcase. We found some people on Craigslist who are getting ready to make a big move that had a desk that Dave was interested in last night. When we got there they had tons of great stuff that they were hoping to find homes for and we ended up buying a lot more than we planned on.

I am SO excited! It feels like we actually live here now, so I will probably spend the rest of the day hanging up a few more pictures, decorating, and rearranging stuff. I can't wait.

A thankful heart...

IMG_0663

I know I have been telling you guys thanks a lot lately...thanks for following along, thanks for reading, thanks for all of your sweet comments...

But today I wanted to take a moment and say thank you yet again. I can't tell you how amazing it is for Dave and I when we see you all sharing the music. It makes all the frustrating aspects of it worth it when we see that you love it so much you are passing it on to friends. And for that I'm thankful.

After all, this first album is titled "Love via Music", right? So why not spread the love?

Saturday on SOCO.

This past Saturday, Dave and I spent the afternoon walking up and down South Congress (aka SOCO). It was a gorgeous day and I enjoyed spending it outside with my man and I snuck in a few pictures along the way. We found Dave's boots, stopped in the Continental, and watched the people (and donkeys) go by...you never know what you'll see in Austin...

What a beautiful day...

Yesterday Dave and I spent more than half the day shopping for groceries...I kid you not. After only buying a few things here and there for the past month or so we were way overdue for an inventory check and to stock up on the essentials (plus some). We like to grocery shop together and usually take our time strolling the aisles and checking the ingredients of new items (yes, we're those people)...so that made the long list and multiple stops we had to make yesterday an extra long event...

IMG_2783-1

When we got home Dave started his job of unloading the loot, I started to look around and got a little overwhelmed at how messy I'd let the place get. As he started to cook dinner I confessed I'd been feeling like I fail at certain areas sometimes, and that reading some of the blogs and seeing pictures on Pinterest don't help matters...

IMG_2806

I feel guilty sometimes that I don't always have dinner on the table (honestly Dave usually cooks) and that our home isn't always all put together. As I was telling him about all this he looked at me with one of the most serious looks I've ever seen on him and said that none of that mattered to him...

IMG_2811

Just the fact that I support him and love him is all that he cares about. Even if the house is never perfect and dinner isn't made from scratch every night, he still loves me more today than yesterday.

IMG_2802

I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, even though I knew he didn't expect all of that from me, just to hear him say it helped to make me realize how much ridiculous pressure I put on myself sometimes. Please tell me I'm not the only one?
